On Friday, May 19th, Parkersburg residents are encouraged to ride their bike to their place of employment where it is safe to do so. If you work downtown and do not feel comfortable going alone, please come join the Parkersburg Bicycle Advisory Board. The Bicycle Advisory Board will be hosting a group ride starting at the City Park Pavilion and then riding to Highmark West Virginia in downtown Parkersburg. This year, the ride will use the Cross Town Bikeway (CTB). Both experienced and novice riders are welcome. Please meet the Parkersburg Bicycle Advisory Board at the City Park Pavilion by 6:45am. The group ride will start at 7:00am. Once downtown, all riders will be treated to a light breakfast sponsored by Highmark West Virginia. The Bicycle Advisory Board thanks Highmark West Virginia for hosting the breakfast and encourages Parkersburg residents to use this opportunity to utilize existing trails in our City.
Bike to Work Day is one of several events happening nationwide to raise awareness about the social, economic and environmental benefits of cycling. Bike to Work Day is promoted by the League of American Bicyclists.
